When is Panhellenic recruitment?
Fall 2024 primary recruitment will take place August 12th-August 20st. A more detailed recruitment schedule can be found in the 2024 Guide to Primary Recruitment that will become available in Summer 2024. Any updates will be announced on the Clemson Panhellenic Website (https://www.clemsonpanhellenic.com/) as well as social media. If changes occur after your daughter has registered, she will be notified directly through email.
WILL MY DAUGHter move in early for recruitment?
Yes, if your daughter is living on campus she will move in early on August 13th. She will sign up for her move in time slot through ClemsonHOME and indicate that she is going through recruitment - this will put her in that early move in day. Any questions regarding move in can be sent to housing at clemsonhome@clemson.edu
When should my daughter register for recruitment?
Recruitment registration will open June 10th at 8am and close August 4th at 11:59pm. If a PNM has not registered by the last day of recruitment registration, she will not be able to participate in formal recruitment. Registrations must be submitted and completed by this timeline. No exceptions will be made to this deadline.
Are letters of recommendation required?
Recommendation letters are not required for every sorority, however each sorority has their own policies as to whether they require recommendation letters. You can find more information on where recommendation letters can be submitted on our website: https://www.clemsonpanhellenic.com/recommendations
How will my daughter navigate Panhellenic recruitment?
Your daughter will not go through recruitment alone! There are staff members on site as well as your daughters Pi Chi that will help her navigate recruitment and be there for support. Pi Chi’s are members of the Panhellenic community that have disaffiliated from their chapters to help your daughter through recruitment. Your daughter will be paired with a Pi Chi and placed in a Pi Chi group with other women going through recruitment.
Is there a grade requirement to go through recruitment?
There is not a grade requirement to participate in recruitment. However, your daughter’s GPA might have an effect on her overall recruitment experience. Clemson Panhellenic has created the following “Grade Zones” to provide a better understanding of how GPA might effect your daughters recruitment.
§ Green Zone = Your daughter’s options are not likely to be limited based on GPA (3.0+)
§ Yellow Zone = Your daughter’s options are more likely to be limited by your GPA (2.8-2.99)
§ Red Zone = Your daughter’s options are very likely to be limited based on GPA (2.79 and below)
What is a legacy?
Your daughter would be considered a legacy of a sorority if a specified relative is a member of that sorority organization. For most of the sororities your daughter will be considered a legacy if her sister, mother or grandmother is an initiated member of that sorority. Some organizations do consider aunts, step-sisters and step-mothers in legacy status. Your daughter will indicate on her recruitment application which organizations she is a legacy to.
Will my daughter be guaranteed a bid to the sorority she is a legacy to?
There is no guarantee your daughter will receive a bid to a sorority due to her legacy status.
Is my daughter guaranteed a bid if she goes through recruitment?
No. Although a majority of the women participating in Recruitment are invited to join a chapter at the end of recruitment, during 2023 recruitment 81% of the women participating in the first round of recruitment received a bid. Recruitment is a process of mutual selection, and as such, there are many different outcomes to this process. A small portion of the women participating in Recruitment voluntarily withdraw themselves from the recruitment process even though they have chapters available to attend. Each sorority at Clemson has their own membership criteria, oftentimes governed by their national organization, which they use to make their selections. As such, unfortunately, we also have women who are completely released from the recruitment process, although this number is relatively low, in Fall 2023 this was only 0.12 %.
What is the cost of joining a sorority?
In 2021 the average new member dues were $766 per semester and average active member dues were $798 for both semesters total. More detailed financial information can be found on Clemson Panhellenic’s Chapter Financial Cards.
